Summer-Fall
2005
Part II
Extreme Staff Training
Doggie Oasis has experienced tremendous growth recently. With this growth, we have also increased our staff. Having so many new people on board, we
decided it would be a good idea to do some extreme staff training! All Doggie Oasis staff members participated in a seminar from Marykay, of Smarty Paws
Canine Coaching, on dog behavior. Soon we will participate in a seminar on Pet First Aid led by Dr. Kari Davis of Hualapai Animal Hospital. In addition,
we are creating a library of books on everything dog for both the staff, and you as clients to enjoy!
You can rest assured; Doggie Oasis truly has the most educated staff taking care of your dogs.
Beg for More of Emma’s Gossip!
It has been a while since I have been able to dish some dirt, so this is very exciting. We have had many new friendships form over the summer. It
amazes me how close some of the dogs are. Boris (Bull Terrier) and Diego (Golden Retriever) are inseparable when they are together, as are Woody (Mini
Bull Terrier) and Dudley (Husky). Must be something with Bull Terriers and furry dogs! Anyone walking by on Tuesdays will probably catch the new pack of
Cody (Bichon), Calvin (Pugle), Grace (Cockapoo), Facci (Boston Terrier), and Sara (Beagle) having a great time playing chase, catch, wrestle. Of course
Bailey (Pointer Mix) loves to pretend she is a small dog and join in! On the other side, Phantom (Poodle) is usually mixing things up with Lucy (Labradoodle),
Carlos (Lab), and Speedy (Cattle Dog Mix). Layla (Yellow Lab) is always ready to go to work and meet the evaluation, then take her siesta!
October is time for Holiday Pictures!
It is that time of year again! We love to take pictures of all of our dogs looking their best with their Santa hats and dreidels. This years card is
going to be fabulous, and we plan on blowing up our holiday collage for some decoration for our new space! Pictures will be taken Monday-Friday
throughout October. Your dog needs to arrive by 9am and stay until 5pm to be guaranteed their spot. Want Mitzi to look her best? Schedule a groom for
the morning and we will take her picture before she re-enters the playroom!
Make Your Holiday Reservations Early!
Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years are approaching quickly. We have limited space available for overnight care, and we would hate for Fido to
have to stay somewhere else! Make your reservations early to secure your spot. Remember, if your dog has not been here in the last 6 months, we may
require another evaluation.

Obedience Quick Tip

Jumping Up
Are you embarrassed by your dog’s feverish attempts to jump up at visitors? Does his excitement cause your arm to be yanked out of the socket? If so,
try this:
-Entice your dog to jump up at you.
-Gently bump your dog with a hip or forearm while giving the command “off.”
-Once your dog stops jumping up, pet them slowly and say “Good off, Gracie.”
This will eventually translate into an “Off” command that can be slowly generalized to other people or situations.
